This second series of lectures will present the existence and uniqueness theory on nonlinear hyperbolic systems of conservation laws in one space dimension. The Riemann problem describing the evolution of a single initial discontinuity will be discussed first and, next, the initial value problem will be investigated in the class of entropy solutions with bounded variation.
