The diameter rigidity theorems in Riemannian geometry provide a complete classification for manifolds of sectional curvature and diameter at least one and a half pi respectively. We will discuss some recent progress in extending diameter rigidity results in Alexandrov geometry, as well their applications. This is a joint work with Yusheng Wang of Beijing Normal University.
