Abstract:
We consider the Bondi-Sachs form of stationary spacetime near null infinity. First we prove that all Newman-Penrose constants vanish for asymptotic algebraic special space-time, which answers Kinnersley's conjecture. As a special case, we also give the value of Newman-Penrose constants for Kerr metric. Secondly, using the uniqueness result of the characteristic initial value problem, we prove the Kerr metric is the only asymptotically flat, stationary, axially symmetric, type-D solution of the vacuum Einstein equation. As a byproduct, the Bondi form of Kerr space-time also has been found.
