This talk will give a general discussion on functional theoretic methods and its applications in some elastic related direct and inverse problems. Starting from a brief review of (λ, k) bi-analytic functions, we will consider a model of thermo-elasticity in the plane, and a free boundary problem raised from a cancer growth model. Combining complex analysis with numerical iterated algorithms, we present analysis and constructional methods for the problems.
