Gromov-Hausdorff distance measures how far two compact metric spaces are from being isometric. In 1981, Gromov obtained a compactness theorem which is a fundamental result in the study of Gromov-Hausdorff convergence theory. In this talk, we will discuss the background of this theory, recent developments and applications.
